Short Story Snippet | Part LV: Buffering
The morning moved forward—
not perfectly,
just steadily.
The internet paused,
thinking longer than I needed it to.
I didn’t rush it.
The work was already done.
Uploading was just a step—
not the whole story.
I had the rest of the day
waiting for me,
exactly as planned.
Part LVI: SCheduled
It was already done.
The work—
yesterday’s effort,
today’s release.
I pressed schedule
and let it go.
Not everything needs
one more adjustment.
Some things
are ready
when you are.
Part LVII: Baseline
It used to be uncertain—
how long,
how it would go,
what to expect.
Now it moved on rhythm.
An hour.
A process.
A flow I could trust.
I made a few changes—
nothing loud,
just enough to feel like mine.
And that was the difference.
Part LVIII: Refocus
They had things to say—
loud, certain,
without substance.
I used to turn it over,
examine it,
place it in context.
Now I don’t.
Not everything deserves a response—
or even a place to land.
I write about what’s mine instead.
Part LIX: Not Assigned
They spoke as if feelings
could be issued—assigned, directed, enforced.
“They should feel this about you.”
I paused.
Not to argue—
just to recognize
it didn’t belong to me.
I don’t manage perception.
I live my life.
Part LX: Selective
I used to share everything
as it happened—unfiltered,
immediate.
Now I don’t.
Not because I have less to say,
but because I choose
what’s worth showing.
A moment,
not the whole day.
Peace stays with me.
The rest—
I share on purpose.
Part LXI: Takeaway
I watched.
Not just to pass time—
but to notice what stayed.
One idea.
One question.
Something worth keeping.
I said it out loud—
briefly,
clearly.
And that was enough
to turn watching
into something more.
